Your worldview matters, it is the lens by which you process all the data (information) that enters your mind. Those of us who use computers and/or smartphones realize the importance of sound software. Remember Garbage in/garbage out?
Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
“Give me a child when he’s 7 and he’s mine forever,” Adolph Hitler
As early as age 2, a child has already started developing their worldview.
By the time they reach the age of 9, a person’s moral foundation is generally in place. And by the time they turn 13, their worldview is practically set in stone. (Additionally, 85% of those who get saved do so by the age of 13)
Can you imagine the DAMAGE DONE to the minds of children who are abused throughout this crucial time period?
I believe we are seeing a rise in crime, and an uptick in outright depravity, cruelty, and evil because so many children have endured abuse and been taught lies straight from the pit of hell with the intention of keeping them from God starting as infants, babies, and children.
In his book, Transforming Children into Spiritual Champions, George Barna says this:
“Social scientists have known for years that the moral foundations of children are generally determined by the time the individual reaches age nine… Anyone who wishes to have a significant influence on the development of a person’s moral and spiritual foundations had better exert that influence while the person is still open-minded and impressionable – in other words, while the person is still young… The older a person gets, the more difficult it is for him or her to replace existing moral and spiritual pillars… More often than not, what a person decides about truth, sin, forgiveness and eternal consequences during the preteen years is the same perspective that person carries to the grave and beyond, wherever that may take him or her.”
Before the age of 13, kids are defining what they believe. After the age of 13, they start defending those beliefs. What if what we learned and had defined for us was wrong, and we waste our life defending a lie?
On God’s calendar this is the month of Elul, a month set apart for repentance. Teshuvah חזרה בתשובה
is the Hebrew word for repentance and it is by repentance or a change of direction, a return (to God) that we can meet and commune with God. In Greek, the word is Metanoia, a transliteration of the Greek μετάνοια can be defined as “a transformative change of heart; especially: a spiritual conversion.” The term suggests repudiation, change of mind, repentance, and atonement; but “conversion” and “reformation” may best approximate its connotation.
Flesh vs Spiritual ~ Romans 7:14
The sinful, fallen flesh cannot understand the Mind of Christ, only by the Holy Spirit can we perceive spiritual things such as repentance and salvation. We need a new ‘worldview’, we need the Holy Spirit to open our eyes to Spiritual things to see God’s will for us through Jesus Christ.
John 3:8 The wind blows where it pleases, and you hear its sound, but you don’t know where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
John 16:8-11 When He (Holy Spirit) comes, He will convict the world about sin, righteousness, and judgment: 9 About sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10 about righteousness, because I am going to the Father and you will no longer see Me; 11 and about judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.
Romans 10:9-10 9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
Matthew 7:7-8 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye. shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh. findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
I am the way, the truth, the life… John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
What’s your worldview? Carnal or Spiritual?
